Birch Home Builders was founded to provide a more transparent home building experience with a goal of building your home in an unbeatable timeline. We use the latest technology to price your home and BuilderTrend to keep you in the loop throughout the build process.
History & Philosophy
Birch Home Builders was established in May 2020 with the goal to focus on a better customer experience that results in a better home. With a background in production building, we have been able to blend the efficiencies and processes of track building with the personal customer touch and higher quality finishes of a custom builder.

Our team at Birch Home Builders, grew from our 10 year commitment to managing, building and selling homes as co-workers with a local residential builder. We pride our selves on honesty, communication and transparency. Building Homes if for your family and ours, this is what we live for.

Our Management Team
The business is driven by 2 owners and 2 employees, each having been in the home building industry for 10+ years. They are all involved in the business development, sales, project management and administration of the company.
Andy Shelton
Founder, Owner
Andy first became interested in home building in his youth, when his parents had a custom home built by family friends. During that time he would tag along to different job sites and help clean up scraps while his friend’s parents checked on the homes they were building. After deciding to pursue a career in new construction he majored in Real Estate in college and became a licensed Realtor in 2007. After more than a decade of working with home builders he joined with Avery to found Birch Home Builders.
Ashley Mcintee
COO
Ashley joined Birch Home Builders with over a decade of experience in project management and subdivision development. Her deep knowledge across every phase of residential construction makes her an invaluable resource to the team. At Birch, Ashley oversees day to day operations, financials, coordinates permitting and utilities, also scheduling warranty repairs. Her ability to juggle complex responsibilities with ease ensures each project runs smoothly from concept to completion.
Avery Smith
Builder, Owner
Avery began his career in residential construction in 2010, working with a local production builder. Over the years, he gained hands-on experience in every aspect of the building process. As a superintendent, Avery personally managed the construction of more than 150 homes before stepping into a project management role, where he oversaw operations across the Columbia market. At Birch Home Builders, Avery leads project management, supervises all construction operations, and oversees estimating and materials, helping ensure every home is built with precision and efficiency.
John Zeigler
Project Manager
John is an experienced custom home builder of 27 years, with 47 years of home building experience and Master Carpenter. His vast level of expertise and knowledge is going to help elevate construction transparency and accuracy when supervising our projects. He is an active member in his church congregation, loves spending time with his family, enjoys living and fishing on Lake Murray.
Bridget Shelton
Project Coordinator
Bridget brings over 14 years of expertise in real estate, specializing in new construction, along with 4 years of experience in the mortgage industry. Her comprehensive knowledge of the building process and financial landscape enables her to seamlessly bridge communication between various teams. As the new client liaison at Birch Home Builders, Bridget is dedicated to ensuring that client selections and change orders are accurately conveyed from design to the field, fostering efficiency and excellence in every project.
Kenneth "Kenny" Pritchett
Project Manager
As a fourth-generation custom home builder and business owner, Kenny brings a deep understanding of the industry to every project. Being a dedicated project manager who lives by faith, he believes in building trust, open communication and collaboration throughout the entire process. Focused on efficiency and exceeding expectations, and having an eye for detail, our clients will love working with Kenny and his passion for delivering a high-quality home that will bring joy for years to come.
Varsha Gaikwad
Purchasing and Estimating
Varsha’s passion for homebuilding started with a fascination for how spaces take shape—from the first sketches to the finishing touches. With degrees in Architecture and Construction Management, she brings a balance of creative vision and technical know-how to her work. Her diverse background has given her a broad perspective on the building process, which naturally led her to Estimating and Purchasing at Birch Home Builders. There, she builds initial budgets, collaborates with vendors, and helps ensure each project stays on track with both scope and cost. When she's not working, Varsha enjoys gardening, creating art, and experimenting with new recipes in the kitchen.
Camber Moore
Accountant
Camber Moore lives in Chapin, SC, and is a devoted mother who enjoys spending her free time with family, friends and staying involved in her community. She is a proud graduate of the University of South Carolina, where she earned her degree in Finance. With over 20 years of experience in small to mid-sized business accounting—including a strong focus on residential construction—she brings both knowledge and efficiency to the Birch Home Builders accounting team. Her love of numbers and sharp attention to detail keep things running smoothly behind the scenes.
Emily Hough
Design Selection Coordinator
With a lifelong passion for art and design Emily Hough, earned a Studio Art degree from the University of South Carolina and later returned to school to study interior design. Over the past four years, she has worked in residential design across the Columbia, Irmo, and Chapin areas helping clients turn houses into homes through thoughtful, personalized design.
What she loves most about construction is building lasting relationships with the homeowners and guiding them through the creative process. That passion led her to join Birch Home Builders, where she gets to be part of the entire homebuilding journey. From preconstruction to the final finishing touches. Emily finds nothing more rewarding than helping someone fall in love with the home they’re about to live in.
When Emily is not working, you’ll usually find her outside with her husband and daughter or spending time with their family and friends.
Sheila Andrade
Interior Designer
Sheila Andreade brings a refined design sensibility and a deep understanding of new construction to the Birch Home Builders team. With a background in residential design and a passion for helping families create homes that reflect their lifestyle, she plays a key role in both the aesthetic and functional aspects of every project.
Her work begins long before the finishes are selected—Sheila is actively involved in pre-construction services, collaborating with homeowners, architects, and our build team to ensure every detail is thoughtfully planned from the start. From space planning and layout optimization to selections, color palettes, and materials, she helps guide clients through every phase of the design process. Her goal is to create homes that feel cohesive, intentional, and truly personal.
Sheila’s professionalism, attention to detail, and commitment to client satisfaction make her an essential part of the design build experience at Birch Home Builders.
When she’s not working, Sheila enjoys traveling with her husband and daughter and proudly cheering her daughter on at golf tournaments.
